Whether it's through taxpayer-funded subsidies or passed along in our utility bills, millions of Americans shouldn’t be paying for charging stations they don’t use.

Public electric vehicle charging stations are being placed in many cities across the country. What many don't know is that these stations are going to be paid for by people who likely don’t own electric cars. Ratepayers, including low and middle-income consumers, are footing the bill for the often wealthy electric vehicle owners.
This is not fair. Over the next decade, the cost of this infrastructure is projected to reach into the billions of dollars. The Fair Energy Initiative is raising awareness of this unfair practice by many utility corporations in the hopes of ensuring ratepayers, government officials, and consumers understand the costs and have a voice in preventing abusive practices.
